Ron Weijers worked as a creative director for over 30 years within the international advertising market, Today his creative and artistic activities are very heterogeneous and do not consist of merely painting, but involve wider dimensions associated with graphic design, drawing, painting, curating, photography, music, public relations, concept & project development, web development and social media are namely areas in which he fills with meaning by way of distinctly recognizable messages, expressing his subtle and involved views of the issues of immediate interest. In this way, he creates an original and distinctly expressive symbiosis, which he brings to life with different concepts and projects carried out internationally. Due to his personal and artistic capacity to communicate and his outstanding organizational skills, he does not present himself as a solo player, but he frequently involves his artistic colleagues as well.

Ron Weijers - New York Journals
 

















 
Ron Weijers - New York Journals - has been published and will be presented and made available for the first time within the Possible (Im)Possibilities exhibition at Pulchri Studio opening on upcoming May 7. A journal containing a selection of his daily thoughts, ideas, observations, visions, inspiration, experiences, plans, doodles, presketches and things to do as they occurred to him during his 2007-2008 stay in Manhattan. The first edition of the New York Journals publication exclusively will be for sale at Pulchri Studio during the exhibition.
 
In addition to the presentation of this publication, a selection of 24 high quality limited edition of five giclee prints have been produced on 300 gr MC mat paper. Each individually signed (on the back side) and framed on size 24x30 cm with passe partout in a natural wooden Nielsen frame. These works will exclusively be on display and for sale during the Possible (Im)Possibilities exhibition.
 
During his multiple stays in New York, Weijers kept a journal of literally everything that occurred around him and had an impact on him of any kind. It resulted in a plethora of booklets filled with (pre)sketches and notes for works that would become reality in a later stage of his career. New York Journal presents a selection of pages from one of these journals. Weijers often refers to his sometimes maddening capacity of absorbing his surroundings into some type of inspiration as being a kind of Sponge Bob.

Global Frequency Music released: 'Tabasco Tabernacle', a project aiming on maximum stimulation of audio-visual senses, an extremely creative and artistic international initiative, concept and challenge, a collective effort created by more than 40 Dutch and American artists & musicians, a sonic exploration blurring musical boundaries with mind-altering sounds & grooves and artistic controversial visual tour illustrating an atmosphere of provocative confusion.

Global Frequency & Pulp Vision lab productions, initiated and coordinated this extremely creative and artistic international initiative and challenge. They developed the concepts, storyboards and screenplays for this unique and controversial visual production for the Tabasco Tabernacle DVD project. Ron Weijers, Easton Davy and Willem van Veldhuizen, three multi-talented creative personalities, teamed up in order to guarantee the artistic values of the visual content.

Ron Weijers, concept & product developer, musician, songwriter, painter, photographer, illustrator, graphic designer and on top blessed with good organizational skills, Easton Davy, painter, illustrator and graphic designer, also with strong capacities in concept development and last but not least Willem van Veldhuizen, painter, illustrator, musician and songwriter. Together they developed a Tabasco Tabernacle concept and orchestrated the guidelines and strory-boards regarding the visual content of the in total over 60 minutes of video material produced. In order to guarantee diversity in the visual material used they took the decision to invite a selected group of visual artists to participate in the Tabasco Tabernacle production. A collective effort by more than 40 Dutch and American artists & musicians injected their creativity into this unique audio-visual project.  The wealth of the world has a New York address. Legions of artists, philosophers, businessman, poets, writers, musicians, industrialists, brokers, movie stars, advertising executives and more, from all over the world created (and still do so) this microcosm of all that New York has become. Its the story of a great fascinating city and perhaps nowhere else in this world is the essence of being alive more evident than in New York. A screeching amusement park without a roller coaster. This metaphor was used in more ways than one, for New York’s 24-hour figurative playground. The ultimate place to recharge your batteries on all the levels of your imagination. New York is one of the few places in the world where one can watch the night sky lighten and break into streaks of rose that suddenly saturate the heavens, then burst with sunlight that ignites sidewalks and streets that has not been stolen by high and indescribably ugly buildings. The Alter Vision series has been developed for publishing. A series of six themed booklets on a variety of aspects like graffity, architecture, street-art and people have been photographed over a period of seven months in Manhattan and Brooklyn during 2006.
